Hi friend — I’m so glad you’re here.
Welcome to Wonderfully Messy! What started as a simple blog in 2018 has evolved into a space for raw honesty, quiet hope, and healing stories that reflect the goodness of God in the middle of the hardest seasons.
I write for those who are walking through the valley, for the ones carrying anxiety, grief, trauma, or unanswered prayers, and those dealing with the aftermath. I’ve been there too. After walking through a traumatic crisis that nearly took my husband’s life and left me with PTSD, I found myself clinging to Jesus in a way I never had before. What I discovered was this: even in the darkest places, God does not abandon us. He enters the mess and brings beauty we didn’t expect.
Here, you’ll find reflections from that journey. Pieces of the story that still ache and shine all at once. You’ll find posts about learning to trust God when everything feels out of control, surrendering anxiety, finding hope in suffering, and seeing God’s fingerprints in unexpected places.
If you’re looking for neat answers or polished faith, this may not be the place. But if you’re longing for honest encouragement and proof that God is near to the brokenhearted, you are absolutely in the right place.
So make yourself at home. Read a story. Share one with a friend. And remember: there is still beauty in the mess, not just after it, but right in the middle of it.
About Me
I hesitate to call myself a writer; I simply couldn’t keep quiet about what Jesus has done.
I don’t have formal training in writing, so please forgive the errors. But I do have a heart that has been wrecked by pain, held together by grace, and moved to share the comfort I’ve received. What you’ll find here isn’t always polished, but it is real, rooted in Scripture, experience, and a whole lot of faith.
I’ve served in church ministry most of my life, until stepping away in 2023 to stay home, heal, and follow God’s leading into a quieter but deeper season. (You can read that story here This Isn’t What I Expected). These days, I spend my time writing, creating, praying, learning, listening, and working part-time. I’m passionate about helping others experience healing through Jesus — body, mind, and soul.
I’ve been married to my amazing husband, Joseph (Joey), since April 1998. He’s a power-lineman, a gifted musician, and my greatest encourager. He is a beautiful reflection of what a husband who loves like Jesus looks like. He also writes and produces music under Joey Under God. Give his music a listen 😉.
Our three children, also gifted musicians, are now young adults, and I treasure the friendship we share so deeply in my heart. They have huge hearts, make me laugh, and have walked with me through some of our darkest valleys.
This is my wonderfully messy life. Imperfect, sometimes painful, and full of glimpses of God’s glory.
Thanks for being here! 💛
I think my hubby is the best singer/guitar player EVER! Check out his YouTube channel here↓ Or click on the link for more of his music. https://wonderfullymessy.com/christian-music-favorites/
