There are seasons when life feels like one long valley. The path ahead looks uncertain, the air feels heavy, and the silence is deafening. We wonder how much longer we’ll have to carry what feels too heavy for us to hold.
It’s in these seasons that we are tempted to measure our progress by what we see—or rather, what we don’t see. No breakthrough. No relief. Just more of the same. And yet, Scripture reminds us that valleys are not meant to be permanent dwellings. We “walk through” them. That means movement is happening, even when it feels like we’re standing still.
I’ve learned that God’s presence in the valley is often quieter than I expected. Not absent—just quieter. He doesn’t always shout answers or carve a quick way out. More often, He whispers reminders: I am with you. I have not left. You are not forgotten.
If you find yourself in a valley today, may I encourage you not to look only at the shadows. Look for the hand that steadies you in the dark. Look for the strength you didn’t know you had yesterday. Look for the grace that keeps showing up, even when you feel empty.
The valley may feel endless, but it isn’t. God’s story never ends in despair. And even here—especially here—He is writing something beautiful with your life.
